Cephalonia International Airport, also known as Kefallinia or Kefalonia Airport, has a variety of domestic and international airlines landing on and taking off from its longer-than-average runway. Ranging from regular domestic flights to seasonal international charters, you have the choice to catch one of the latter and fly directly to Kefalonia Airport, or alternatively fly to Athens International Airport and then catch one of the regular domestic flights to Kefalonia (operated by Aegean Airlines). From Athens, you can find flight connections to most islands of Greece, e.g. to Leros Airport.
While you are waiting for your flight at the airport lounge, you may have the chance to see many different types of aircrafts parking at the apron (the area where aircrafts park). From Aegean’s microscopic Q400s which connect Kefalonia with Athens on a daily basis, to the substanial Boeing 757s and A321s colored with the graphics of more than a dozen International charter airlines that operate during the Summer period.
